Visits from Austria to India

  • 2019:
    On the occasion of celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Austria, Foreign Minister H.E. Karin Kneissl visited India from 25-27 February. She was received by H.E. Smt. Sushma Swaraj.
  • 2018:
    Austrian State Secretary for Finance H.E. Hubert Fuchs went to Mumbai on 23 June and had a meeting with the Indian Industry Representatives and FICCI.
  • 2016:
    At the invitation of H.E. Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, H.E. Sebastian Kurz, Federal Minister of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Republic of Austria visited India from 16-19 February, 2016. He was accompanied by H.E. Karlheinz Kopf, Second President of the National Council of Austria, H.E. Dr. Christoph Leitl, President of Federal Chamber of Commerce (WKO) of Austria, and a large business delegation. During the visit, delegation level talks were held between the two sides, with the Indian side led by EAM Smt. Sushma Swaraj.
    On the occasion, the cooperation agreement between the WKO (Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce?) and FIICI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry)? has been renewed and converted into a Memorandum of Understanding between the chambers.
  • 2012:
    Accompanied by a top-class economic and technology delegation, Transport and Technology Minister Doris Bures travelled to New Delhi for four days. In the Indian capital, Bures met four Indian Ministers to present the excellent Austrian technology successes in the areas of transport, railways, Smart Cities and river shipping. On the occasion, the following agreements have been signed: 1) Letter of Intent for the area of transport technology with the Ministry for Roads, Surface Transport and Motorways and 2) Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Shipping.

  • 2005:
    Federal President, Dr. Heinz FISCHER
    The Austrian Federal President, Dr. Heinz FISCHER, came on an official state visit to India from 16th to 21st February 2005. President FISCHER was accompanied by the Austrian Federal Minister for Economics and Labour, Mr. Martin BARTENSTEIN, the Chief Minister of Tyrol, Mr. Herwig VAN STAA, the Chief Minister of Salzburg, Mrs. Gabriele BURGSTALLER and the President of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Christoph LEITL. The delegation included businessmen and representatives from the fields of science and culture.
    This first ever official State Visit of an Austrian President to India represented a milestone in the Austrian-Indian diplomatic relations.

Visits from India to Austria

  • 2018:
    Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, H.E. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan paid a visit on 19-20 June to participate in the 7th OPEC International Seminar.
  • 2017:
    Minister for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Shri Piyush Goyal participated in the Vienna Energy Forum on 11 May. He delivered the key note speech at the opening ceremony.
  • 2016:
    Indian Minister for Energy H.E. Shri Piyush Goyal went to Vienna from 10 to 12 May.
  • 2015:
    14th Mixed Economic Comission led by Smt. Anita Praveen was in Vienna on 31 August
  • 2013:
    Minister for Culture, Chandresh H.E. Shri Kumari Katoch visited Vienna and Schallaburg to meet with Minister for Education, Culture and Art, Claudia Schmied from 05-08 April on the occasion of opening the exhibition “The India of the Maharadschas”. Foreign Minister Preneet Kaur met with Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger at the 5th Global Forum for the Alliance of Civilisations at the United Nations Office in Vienna on 04 February. Kaur signed the Treaty on Social Security between India and Austria with Minister for Labour, Social and Consumer Protection H.E. Rudolf Hundstorfer.
  • 2011:
    Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil paid a state visit to Austria from 4 to 7 October 2011. She was accompanied by her husband Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat and a large trade delegation. The political programme in Vienna included talks with Federal President Heinz Fischer, Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann and Speaker of Parliament Barbara Prammer. President Patil also participated in the formal opening of the Austrian-Indian Economic Forum staged in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ).
