June 2022 India statement Agenda 7&8E on Iran

India’s Statement at the IAEA Board of Governors Meeting (06 June 2022)

Agenda Item 7 – “Verification and Monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the light of UNSC Resolution 2231” and Agenda Item 8(e) “NPT Safeguards Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran”.

Mr. Chairperson,

In the interest of time, our statement covers both Agenda Item 7 and Agenda Item 8(e).

India has taken note of the recent reports of the Director General on the subjects ‘Verification and Monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015),’ and on “NPT Safeguards with the Islamic Republic of Iran”. We value the Director General’s efforts to implement the Agency’s verification and monitoring activities in Iran. India attaches high importance to the Agency’s ability to provide assurance of the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme.

India supports peaceful resolution of all the outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomacy. We urge Iran to continue to cooperate constructively with the IAEA to resolve all outstanding issues in a satisfactory manner.

 I thank you.
